Beethoven
Short Story Book
Short Story about the birth of Beethoven’s most beloved piece, the Ninth Symphony.
Chapter 1
1822, it had been nearly a decade since Beethoven created his last symphony. At this time, he was physically suffering from his deafness, and emotionally from the alienation from his only family (his nephew Karl). He was both exhausted and lonely. However, the melody of the Ninth Symphony came to him at this most unexpected time.
Chapter 2
To the eyes of an outsider, his increasing obsession with perfection in arts and his unbearably paranoid personality was becoming utterly absurd. He needed the premiere of his Ninth Symphony to be absolutely perfect. During the rehearsal, in the face of any slight mistakes made by the band, he would completely lash out. In the end, the band just couldn’t cooperate with him anymore.
Chapter 3
Under tremendous pressure, he felt more and more tired emotionally and physically as days went on. And the only time he could rest himself was when he was absolutely immersed in music. As if in music, he had found the love and tranquility he had never felt.
Chapter 4
After two lonely and painful years, in 1824, Beethoven’s great creation: the Ninth Symphony was finally born, but he also succumbed to complete deafness. The premiere was a giant success. Ironically, without hearing any notes, the only person excluded from the utopian moment of the premiere was the composer himself...
