Utopia 2020s
Illustration Series
The pandemic and social injustices that happened in 2020 have divided American society greatly, revealing some of the ugliest sides of humanity. However, it seems people were so fed up with the disasters we contributed that we couldn’t even pause to have a moment of reflection.
This project imagines an extreme alternative: what if humans disappear, giving back the world to other creatures? Would the absence of humans enable us to see the absurdity of what had happened in 2020 in the U.S.:
Pigeons residing in the medical wastes, raccoons finding food in an abandoned ambulance, squirrels chilling on the balcony of a hospital, and ghosts eating the grass before Lincoln Memorial.
Let this series be a cautionary tale for what 2020 had witnessed.
